Session Chairs: Don Collins and Kim Valentine

The NOAA Data Strategy and attendant Implementation Plan addresses many areas of data management, including the critical issue of data licenses. In this session, we propose to bring together NOAA legal advisors, data managers and scientists from across the spectrum of NOAA geospatial data to raise awareness of which licenses may inhibit FAIR principles. A goal of this session is to identify options for available licenses that will best support NOAA's requirements for adhering to the Open Government Data Act, Geospatial Data Act, Open Data Directive and other directives, both for NOAA’s own data and products, and for the data we obtain from others.
