Brett Alger is the NOAA Fisheries’ Electronic Technologies Coordinator in the Office of Science and Technology, based out of Silver Spring, MD. He works on technology and policy development, and implementation of electronic monitoring and reporting systems in fisheries-dependent programs for U.S. fisheries. He is also currently serving on the NOAA Artificial Intelligence Executive Committee. Prior to his current position, Brett worked in the NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office in Gloucester, MA for 8 years, helping coordinate and implement the Northeast Multispecies (groundfish) Fishery Management Plan and groundfish sector program, and supported electronic monitoring and reporting programs in the region.
Brett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from Central Michigan University and Master of Science degree in Fisheries Management and Science from Michigan State University.
